What are the advantages of drinking smoothies or juices daily or every other day?
Smoothies. These are made in a blender. (My personal favourite is the Optimum 9200A (Next Generation blender) or you can buy the Optimum 9400 which my brother loves – to find out more about Optimum blenders and juicers click here
In a smoothie you can throw in everything from nuts to carrots, pinapple, tomato, raisons, dates, apricots, seeds like sunflower, linseed, chia, psylliam, etc along with a cup or two of coconut water or juice or water and your Optimum (or other makes this strong) makes short work of them to make a fantastic very smooth smoothie packed full of goodness. Weaker (cheaper) blenders will struggle to make the smoothie smooth.
there are loads of recipies to find and follow. I like doing this when I want a specific taste or for a special purpose e.g. a green smoothie you select greens predominantly, or for your eyes (see recipe below), or prostate, etc. otherwise you can put in almost whatever you want (although the taste is not altogether yummy!) and you’ll get an amazingly healthy thick drink.
Most of my patients who have become smoothie lovers put Herbactive’s ABC Daily Powder into their morning smoothie.
The other advantage about getting a premium blender like the Australian-made Optimum is its versatility to benefit your health and keep you interested in staying on the path of health. For instance, because they are so strong (something like 3.5 horsepower!) and spin faster than any other machine to my knowledge (48,000 reps per minute!) you can literally make a hot soup in it within 3-4 minutes. All you do is put in the fresh foods like mushrooms (or whatever recipe you’re following) and press the fast button and after 3-4 mins it’s steaming hot (saving you from eating a meal that is far less nutritious!).

We are told to eat our daily 5 (or has it changed to 8 now?!) fruits and vegetables. When eating ordinary meals this is always difficult. But with a blender it is absolutely no problem and you will exceed this minimum every time getting all your nutrients and more in one hit. And it is enormous fun too!
Following particular recipes is recommended when it comes to giving smoothies to children: they must taste good! If you get this wrong, you’ll put them off for life! Once they’ve got a taste for smoothies you will be able to put in many other types of foods that they don’t or wouldn’t eat and they won’t even notice!
Children will love to become involved in making strawberry smoothie or ice cream (the healthy type). Plus, it’s quick – children like quick results! Smoothies can literally replace meals and because of their rapid absorption into your body you will find that you can lose weight. This is because smoothies are cleansing, detoxing and remove toxins that build up in your body, so fat melts away. The crud in your intestines will be swept away and your digestion will improve, wind will not be a problem (everyone has wind but with the diet that includes lots of smoothies the wind you release is clean wind, not smelly wind which is a symptom of a fermenting unclean gut).
Smoothie making is not a game although it may sound like it. It is serious health building. Your bones and muscles will benefit, also your joints, hair and skin, nails and eyes – even your mood will improve. Most of all, your immune system will take a leap forward. This is because you have improved your dietary intake and the nutrients you’re eating are greater than ever before. It will be the best purchase you make in years. Highly recommended. Don’t wait, it’s a no-brainer. Getting a good blender is like you’re investing in something for the long-term, and something that you won’t get disappointed by or bored with in the following months. Get a good one (you know the one I’m convinced by!).
Because your body will be breathing a sigh of relief for the changes you have started, you will also sleep deeper, longer, and wake more refreshed.
Wake up to an omlette – prepared in your blender – be it a Spanish omlette, a mushroom omletter, cheese omlette, they can all be make in your blender in seconds using the pulse button. Pour it into the pan and the omlette is ready!
Because of the demands of my herbal work I frequently make a quick nourishing smoothie for lunch – done in no-time and it sustains me wonderfully until supper, when more than likely I’ll make a delishous (!) fruit sorbet in the blender.
So boost your brain and energy and feel young again!
Cravings for sweets, chocolates, buscuits, cakes dissolve away when you drink health smoothies every day.
Remember how to drink a smoothie: eat it, chew it, don’t just drink it down. Enjoy it!

Smoothies for health should especially be taken along with your herbal medicines when you have any illness from allergies to act as a preventative against cancer, to worms and parasites.
Here’s my special smoothie to enhance your eyesight and eye health
Optimum Eye Health Green Smoothie
Put in your Optimum blender (or any blender):
1 cup orange juice (or apple juice)
2 cups of curly kale
1/4 cup fresh black currents
1/4 cup fresh bilberries
1-2 whole fresh carrots
1/2 an apple
1/2 cup fresh garden peas
1/2 an orange
1/2 an avocado
1/2 Tbsp cashews
Blend on high for 30-45 seconds.
See if you don’t love that!
(if you’ve made too much put it in a container in the freezer for later)
Fresh Juices. These are made in a juicing machine, either via a certifugal juicer or a grinder and mincing juicer. The former is fine for apples, carrots, celery, etc. The latter is not much good for apples but is the juicer of choice to get juice out of fresh herbs, wheatgrass, carrots, but not squishy fruits.
Juicing has gone down in health value because of the sugar you consume, e.g. when juicing carrots or beetroot, apples or grapes. But the value of juicing is still good – how can you say otherwise when drinking freshly juiced apples?! Also, because smoothies blend whole vegetables, whole fruits, nuts, etc keeping all the roughage, peel, seeds, etc they are far healthier than juices which are concentrations of the juice of fruits and veg only.
I’ve put in a good word for Optimum blenders so I believe the Optimum juicers are just as good although I don’t have one.
